Long period of sitting and/or standing, intense physical activity or inactivity, years of impact, muscle mass depletion with ageing and hormonal changes for men and women, weight fluctuations, all these and more can contribute to muscular imbalance in our lower body, affecting our alignment (eg: lower cross syndrome) and restricting our movement alongside sensations of stiffness and even pain.
Diving deep into the lower body, this slow pace and accessible to all workshop will focus on ways to relieve unnecessary tension for an immediate feeling of opening as well as longer term effect on your mobility, allowing you to access a freer, more even range of movement in the hamstrings, psoas, calves and ankles. Feelings of tension in leg muscles and joint pain such as in knees or hips can also be caused by an uneven pulling of muscles so as well as restoring freedom of movement with targeted release techniques and dynamic stretch sequences, we will look at some ways to gently strengthen and stabilise, using muscle activation and body weight + light resistance exercise, improving balance and control whilst creating more ease and fluidity of motion.
This workshop is for anyone looking to restore and cultivate both flexibility and stability for more harmony in the lower body, using elements of myofascial release therapy, yoga and strength training but with no experience required, aiming to leave you with a spring rather than a strain in your step.
