Unwinding the spine and shoulders

Lifestyle, desk work, driving, ageing, hormonal changes, even the weather and our emotional state all have an impact on our posture in particular the upper back and shoulders.

Combining release work, gentle mobilisation and muscle activation targeting the thoracic spine and shoulders, this workshop will specifically focus on techniques and movement to alleviate upper cross syndrome: rounded shoulders, humped upper back (kyphosis ) and forward head posture. Using these techniques you can correct and maintain upper body alignment, ease pain in back, shoulders and neck leaving you with more freedom to move in these areas. In addition you should notice added strength and stability to prevent injuries and allowing you to get more out of your everyday activities, sport, exercise and yoga practice.

Virginie will guide you through this workshop drawing on over 25 years of experience as a personal trainer, movement practitioner and yoga teacher. Expect release with trigger ball/peanut/foam roller, slow mobility flow sequences for the thoracic spine and shoulders and gentle body weight and light resistance training to activate and strengthen specific muscle groups directly affecting the spine and shoulders. 

You will walk out feeling taller and freer.
