The "core" is the torso, extending from the shoulders to the pelvis and is known as the body's centre of power or “powerhouse”. Core training aims at strengthening these intrinsic muscles that lie deep within the torso. Their role is to hold the body stable and balanced, whether it is stationary or in dynamic motion and a strong core means a more efficient, functional, powerful & better performing body.
As part of this introductory course, you’ll learn the basics of core strengthening aimed at building a strong foundation from stationary breathing technique towards simple movement patterns in various planes of motion. While most of the work will be mat-based, you will be introduced to training with the Swissball as well as light resistance to further challenge the core muscles.
No experience of core training is required; this course is also suitable for those recovering from minor injury who have been cleared to return to exercise.
Cost: £60.00; £11.00 drop in if space allows (No class pass)
